It was the voice of angels, some said. Ghosts, said others. The tales and legends could agree on only one thing: the wind did indeed carry a secret message, a voice that spoke to the citizens of the small town nestled at the bottom of a mountain valley.

Sweat beaded upon her forehead and dripped down her cheek. Her muscles taught, and her movements precise. The goggles over her face and the gloves on her hands offered her all the protection she needed, but it was still hotter than Hell. Yet, her mind never considered the heat anymore.

I couldn’t have predicted how much the sounds of those four instruments would have affected me. It’s startling how much my mood could change, even my world-view could change, from such a simple thing as music. The funny thing is that I was there because it was the first club I’d seen; the first place where I could drown my sorrows.

Clara opened her closet and studied the contents. Then, she raised her arm to examine her skin. Today, it was a deep purple, with flecks of sky-blue peppered throughout. Clara pulled out a sky-blue dress to match the flecks and got dressed.
